CIDCA chairman meets executive director of UN Women

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Sima Sami Bahous, executive director of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), on Oct 14 in Beijing. Bahous is in China to attend the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

Chen said that the Chinese president's speech at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women has shown China's commitment to supporting the development of global women's cause through actions. The CIDCA is willing to work with UN Women to conduct projects benefiting women and girls in the fields of poverty alleviation, green development and human resources development, leveraging resources such as the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund, Chen said. These moves will further advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, he added.

Bahous praised China's contributions to promoting global gender equality and women empowerment, and congratulated China on the success of the meeting. She said her agency will deepen its cooperation with the CIDCA and strive for tangible results at an early date by implementing the outcomes of the meeting on women, so as to benefit women and girls around the world and promote the development of global women's cause.
