The Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDSSCF) began providing insulin syringes to Palestinian refugees suffering from diabetes on Oct 13.

Zeng Jixin, head of China's office in Palestine, attended the launching ceremony and said that the project is the first one jointly conducted by the Chinese government and United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East since the GDSSCF was upgraded. The project demonstrated China's commitment to addressing the needs of Palestinian refugees and support for the work of the United Nations, he noted. The first shipment of syringes has been delivered to the West Bank, he said, adding that, if successfully implemented, the project will benefit more than 43,000 refugees living in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
