CIDCA chairman meets Liberian senate president pro tempore

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met with Liberian Senate President Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence on Oct 16 in Beijing. Karnga-Lawrence is in China to attend the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

Chen welcomed Karnga-Lawrence's attendance at the meeting and noted that the Chinese president's speech at the opening ceremony of the meeting, which introduced new initiatives and measures to support global women's cause, showcases China's responsibility as a major country. China will cooperate with Liberia and other participating countries to take the summit as an opportunity to develop women's capabilities in a comprehensive way, Chen noted. The China-Liberia relationship was elevated to a strategic partnership in September last year, Chen said, adding that China will enhance the development cooperation with Liberia and benefit the people of the two countries.

Karnga-Lawrence expressed her appreciation to China for hosting the meeting and proposing the measures. Focusing on women's development, Liberia will cooperate with China in personnel training and livelihood projects, she said.

Karnga-Lawrence stressed that Liberia firmly adheres to the one-China principle and appreciates China's long-term assistance in her country's socioeconomic development and improvement to its people's living conditions. Liberia looks forward to deepening its cooperation with China in various fields and delivering on the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, she said.
