The third Workshop on Artificial Intelligence Capacity Building, co-hosted by the China International Development Cooperation Agency and East China Normal University, began on Oct 20 in Shanghai.
Sun Xiaobo, coordinator for AI affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chen Jie, vice-mayor of Shanghai, and Qian Xuhong, president of East China Normal University, spoke at the opening ceremony. Government officials from over 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe attended the event.
This workshop, a concrete action to implement a United Nations resolution spearheaded by China on enhancing international cooperation for AI capacity building, aims to boost global AI governance and make AI technology more accessible. Several experts, including Wang Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will give thematic lectures.
