CIDCA chairman meets with UNDP acting administrator

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Xu Haoliang, under secretary-general of the United Nations and acting administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in Beijing on Nov 13.

Chen gave Xu a rundown on the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Chen stated that the Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development, deliberated and adopted at the plenary session, constituted top-level design and strategic guidance for China’s economic and social development in the next five years, and consolidated the foundation for basically realizing socialist modernization on schedule.

Chen noted that the plenary session also made important strategic deployments for advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, including supporting the Global South in building strength through unity, stepping up aid to other countries, and providing the world with more public goods.

Chen said that the CIDCA would like to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the UNDP to promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. These joint efforts will facilitate the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, let the fruits of Chinese modernization benefit people of all countries more extensively and equitably and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, he added.

Xu noted that viewing China as an important partner, the UNDP would like to strengthen cooperation in addressing climate change, promoting green development, and financing for development. The UNDP will bring more of China’s development theories, experience and technology to other developing countries, so as to make greater contributions to the sustainable development of humanity.
