CIDCA chairman meets Pakistani deputy prime minister

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing on Jan 5.

Chen stated that as all-weather strategic cooperative partners with a deep-rooted friendship, China and Pakistan have consistently upheld mutual trust and supported each other on issues concerning their core interests, regardless of changes in international circumstances.

The Chinese side is ready to strengthen development cooperation with Pakistan under the guidance of the vital consensus reached by the leaders of both nations, Chen said. China is willing to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, build an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and actively implement the four global initiatives — the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative and Global Governance Initiative, thereby fostering an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, he added.

Dar expressed gratitude for China's consistent support and assistance to Pakistan, highlighting that China is Pakistan's most trustworthy friend and that the friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the hearts of their people.

Dar stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese personnel and projects in the country and will make every effort to ensure their security. As this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, Dar stated that Pakistan would like to strengthen cooperation with China in various sectors to ensure more benefits of cooperation are shared by the people of both countries.

Chen and Dar also exchanged opinions on specific development cooperation matters.
