The third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development was held in Beijing on April 22.
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), gave the opening remarks.
Chen noted that over the past five years since the Global Development Initiative (GDI) was proposed, China has adhered to the action-oriented principle to build consensus and implement the initiative in collaboration with other countries.
China and its partners have achieved a series of mutually beneficial and far-reaching outcomes through cooperation in the eight priority areas under the GDI, according to Chen.
This, he said, has deepened development cooperation and contributed to building a community with a shared future for humanity and implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Chen stressed the necessity of action to break new ground, deepen partnerships and materialize ideas, as the world now enters a new phase of turbulence and change, giving rise to both opportunities and challenges.
He expressed his confidence that the conference would further consolidate consensus, forge synergies, foster momentum, and deepen cooperation for development, facilitating the implementation of more cooperation projects and ensuring development results benefit people around the world in an inclusive and fair way.
Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo and Timor-Leste's Vice-Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay made remarks at the opening ceremony.
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J Mohammed delivered video speeches.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith attended the opening ceremony. Ministers from Grenada, Lesotho, Senegal, Vanuatu and Bangladesh, as well as Zou Jiayi, president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Celeste Saulo, secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization, gave speeches at the event.
They lauded the key roles of the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the GDI in promoting international development cooperation and improving the global governance system.
They spoke highly of China's openness and inclusiveness as well as its sense of responsibility as a major country in sharing its modernization experience and development gains.
They also expressed the readiness to work with China to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
