
Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met on April 22 with Norway's Minister of International Development Åsmund Aukrust who was in China to attend the third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
Chen noted that as China-Norway relations have advanced steadily in recent years, the two countries have maintained friendly exchanges in international development cooperation. He noted that the four China-proposed global initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative, have contributed Chinese wisdom and solutions to addressing the prominent issues faced by the international community.
Chen said that China is ready to collaborate with Norway to implement the crucial consensus reached by the two heads of state.
He added that China is willing to work with Norway to enhance mutual trust, deepen cooperation and learn from each other in international development cooperation, thereby injecting new momentum into global development cooperation.
For his part, the Norwegian minister stressed the hot spot issues faced by the international community and the challenges in international development cooperation — such as inadequate funds, fragmented collaboration and mechanism reforms.
Aukrust noted that Norway is ready to enhance exchanges with China in international development cooperation policies and experience.
He added that the two countries could cooperate with each other in a suitable way to carry out humanitarian assistance and advance green development, in a bid to address global challenges.
