
Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met on April 23 with Francisco Kalbuadi Lay, Timor-Leste's deputy prime minister, coordinating minister for economic affairs and minister for tourism and environment, who was in China to attend the third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
Chen noted that China and Timor-Leste have understood, supported and trusted each other over the past 24 years since the diplomatic relations were established. In recent years, the two heads of state have maintained strategic communication and reached important consensuses, thereby advancing the bilateral relations, he added.
Chen said that China is ready to work with Timor-Leste to implement the important consensuses reached by the two countries' leaders to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the implementation of the four global initiatives, thereby benefiting the people of both countries.
Lay noted that China, as the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Timor-Leste, has provided valuable support for the country's economic growth, social development and the improvement of people's livelihoods, for which the government and people of Timor-Leste are grateful. Lay also said that the successful and fruitful third high-level conference contributes to global shared development.
Lay expressed Timor-Leste's readiness to cooperate with China to implement the Global Development Initiative and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Chen and Lay also exchanged opinions on specific development cooperation projects.
