Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings on April 23 with Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, finance and planning adviser to the prime minister of Bangladesh, and Alioune Sall, Senegal's minister of communication, telecommunications and digital affairs.
They were in China to attend the third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development that took place in Beijing on April 21-22.
Chen highlighted the fact that the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI) has contributed Chinese wisdom and solutions to addressing prominent challenges facing the world today, such as the global development deficit.
Noting that this year marks the fifth anniversary of the GDI, he stressed that the successful convening of the third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development represented China's renewed commitment to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This helped refocus international attention on global development issues and played a positive role in building broader consensus and reinvigorating global development, Chen added.
Chen noted that China and Bangladesh are friendly neighbors that have always treated each other with mutual respect and worked together on an equal footing for win-win results. He stressed that China and Senegal are good friends and partners, and that China attaches great importance to the advancement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
What's more, he said China is ready to work with Bangladesh and Senegal to implement the crucial consensus reached by their heads of state, strengthen their strategic alignment, deepen development cooperation, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implement the four major global initiatives, all in a bid to promote the development of China-Bangladesh and China-Senegal relations.
For their part, Titumir and Sall highly praised China's long-term support for other Global South countries, including Bangladesh and Senegal.
They expressed their countries' readiness to participate in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, implement the GDI and deepen cooperation with China in diverse areas, in order to achieve win-win results and common development.
Chen also exchanged views with Titumir and Sall on specific development cooperation projects.
