Tang Ying, director-general of the Foreign Aid Support Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and head of the Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC), met with Wang Bo, dean of the School of International Development Cooperation of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), on July 14.
Tang said that over the years, the UIBE has utilized its unique advantages in disciplines of international development cooperation to provide useful intellectual support to central departments.
The Global Development Initiative (GDI) has charted a new course for the disciplinary study of international development, said Tang, adding that she expects the UIBE to assist government departments in the policy interpretation and promotion of the GDI.
She said that China's foreign aid is accelerating its transformation into international development cooperation, and she hopes that the UIBE will carry out theoretical research on the concept upgrading of the transformation, as well as model innovation and resource integration in the process, so that their disciplinary development can better align with national policies and more professional talents are cultivated for China's international development cooperation.
Wang said that the establishment of the GDPC is heartening news for both the academia and theoretical circle. He said that the school looks forward to practical cooperation with the center in promoting the implementation of the GDI, as well as conducting policy research on the monitoring and evaluation of foreign aid projects.
