Tang Ying, director-general of the Foreign Aid Support Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and head of the Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC), met with Zhang Quan, director of the foreign affairs office of the Xiamen municipal government in East China's Fujian province, on July 14.
Zhang said that Xiamen, as the location of the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center, is striving to build a new high ground for opening-up and to become an important hub for international transportation, as well as an important cluster for international capital, and a crucial window for international exchanges.
Xiamen is actively exploring local practice paths and has made a list of enterprises and platform projects that have advantages corresponding to the eight key cooperative areas of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), Zhang said.
He said he hopes to build the China International Fair for Investment and Trade into a platform to showcase the participation of local governments and enterprises in the GDI, and he looks forward to receiving guidance from the GDPC and actively supporting and participating in the relevant work of the GDPC.
Tang said that, for a long time, local governments have actively participated in foreign aid while fully tapping their advantages in location and unique strengths, which has made them an important force in the cause of China's foreign aid. The determination and resource advantages of local and private forces have once again been highlighted in the international cooperation against the COVID-19 over the last two years, she added.
She said that she hopes local governments can maintain policy communication and form synergy with relevant departments throughout the process of promoting the implementation of the GDI.
As an important initiative and publicity platform to promote the implementation of the GDI, the GDPC will actively assist local governments in participating in relevant work, Tang said.
