Tang Ying, director-general of the Foreign Aid Support Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and head of the Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC), met with Fang Qiuchen, chairman of the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), on July 12.
Tang introduced the background of the centers, and said that the Foreign Aid Support Center undertakes assistant work for the supervision and management of foreign aid projects. She also stated that the GDPC was set up to facilitate the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) through action, publicity campaigns and resource support.
Tang said that the GDI is another global public good put forward by China after the Belt and Road Initiative, which charts the course of the country’s international development cooperation. The CIDCA is an agency under the State Council dedicated to foreign aid and international development cooperation, and therefore implementing the GDI is the due responsibility of the CIDCA, said Tang.
Fang expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of the centers and said that he looks forward to them providing policy guidance and suggestions for the member companies of his association on how to jointly promote the implementation of the GDI.
Fang added that he hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the centers under the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development and the project pool compiled by the CIDCA, with the aim of making the country's international contractors part of the cause of implementing the GDI, and making contributions to the materializing of measures put forward at the High-Level Dialogue on Global Development.
