Tang Ying, director-general of the Foreign Aid Support Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and head of the Global Development Promotion Center (GDPC), met with Siddharth Chatterjee, UN resident coordinator in China, on Aug 4.
The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on topics such as cooperation by leveraging their respective strengths and promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Tang introduced the background and significance of the establishment of the GDPC, expressing her appreciation for the positive efforts made by Chatterjee in promoting cooperation between China and the UN and the results achieved. She said the GDPC is expected to have practical cooperation with the UN Development System and jointly contribute to the implementation of the GDI and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Chatterjee congratulated on the establishment of the GDPC and said that the GDI is of a high standard and fully reflects the Chinese wisdom of "putting people first", which is fully in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals as well as the expectations and vision of the UN.
Chatterjee expressed his appreciation for China's timely and comprehensive work to implement the GDI. The UN System in China will provide comprehensive support for the implementation of the GDI by coordinating with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
