Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Qi Mei, Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselor Su Jianguo, Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare of Equatorial Guinea José Ntutumu Edu Nchama, and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Equatorial Guinea Pedro Nguema Ndong attended the handover ceremony of the Chinese medical supplies.

Qi said that China and Equatorial Guinea have been good partners and brothers in the past 50 years through thick and thin. Since the COVID-19 was first reported in the country, China has provided support and assistance to Equatorial Guinea within its capability based on the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and has made positive efforts to build a community of health for all.

The Chinese government, embassy, enterprises and overseas Chinese have donated multiple batches of anti-pandemic supplies to the country. And China has shared its anti-pandemic experience and diagnosis and treatment guideline with Equatorial Guinea in a timely manner.

The arrival of the second shipment of medical supplies is a strong move showing that China is committed to enhancing anti-pandemic cooperation throughout international society and with African countries in particular, said Qi, adding that she believed that this batch of medical supplies will play an active role in helping the country defeat the virus at an early date.

On behalf of the government of Equatorial Guinea, Ntutumu thanked China for providing concrete support and assistance to his country. The supplies arrived just in time at this key stage in combating the virus and will further ease the country's shortage of anti-pandemic materials and provide strong national support.

China has always rendered important support to Equatorial Guinea. The people of the country have kept this in mind and are deeply grateful, added Ntutumu.

During the handover ceremony, Qi and Ntutumu signed the handover certificates of Chinese medical supplies.
