A handover ceremony of a new shipment of China-donated COVID-19 vaccine was held at Lao Ministry of Health on April 27.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune praised the timely delivery of the Chinese vaccine in the country's hour of distress.
China will not forget that when China was struggling to fight the epidemic, the Lao side donated cash and anti-epidemic materials to China, said Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong at the ceremony.
Jiang added that China has dispatched two expert teams, provided a large amount of supplies, helped build nucleic acid testing laboratories, and donated three batches of vaccines since the outbreak of the epidemic in Laos.
The two countries joined hands and worked together to fight against the epidemic, which vividly demonstrates the essence of building a community with a shared future.
The epidemic in Laos has spread rapidly this month. China provided Laos with a new batch of vaccine in the hope that it can help Laos in its epidemic prevention and control, again, said Jiang, adding that China believes that under the strong leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and government, the brotherly Lao people will surely overcome the epidemic. China is willing to continue to provide assistance to this end.
Kikeo said that whenever Laos is in difficulties, the country will receive precious assistance from the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the Chinese people.
China's continuous vaccine donation has provided support for the anti-pandemic fight in Laos and boosted its people's confidence in winning the battle.
Kikeo said that China's vaccines are safe, reliable and efficient, adding that he himself has already been vaccinated. The newly-delivered vaccine is a timely gift and the Lao side promised that it will make full use of it.
